About Wordcraft Publishing

Hello everyone! Welcome to Wordcraft Publishing, a website that offers a series of asynchronous lessons dedicated to helping students prepare for their IELTS speaking and writing exams. What separates us from other IELTS material online is that you will have the chance to have your speaking and writing assessed by a professional teacher with detailed feedback provided. The lessons contain the following:

  • A 10-minute introductory video with added subtitles and visual aids.
  • Exercises based on established coursebooks and original content.
  • Authentic audio clips embedded for listening exercises.
  • An opportunity to submit one of the IELTS writing tasks, or record your own audio clips for one of the IELTS speaking tasks at the end of each lesson.
  • Personalised feedback after each submitted task.

These lessons are designed to help you with the speaking and writing parts of the IELTS exam only. The listening and reading parts of the exam are also challenging, but they are more passive and can be studied individually by students. This is not the case for speaking and writing. Outside of live lessons with a teacher, it is difficult for students to practise their spoken and written production.

This is where Wordcraft Publishing can help. By using our asynchronous teaching methods, you will be able to work on these lessons entirely at your own pace. Once you have submitted a task, feedback will be given for that task within 24 hours (excluding Fridays and Saturdays). One benefit of this asynchronous approach, especially for speaking, is that once you have read or listened to my feedback, you can go back to your original recording, play it again, listen to any particular errors you may have made and then work on them according to the feedback. This technique is not possible in a face-to-face class, as you will never repeat a task exactly the same way each time!

If this sounds interesting to you, but you are still unsure about how the lessons work, please click on our course tutorial for an explanation. The videos are free to watch in each lesson, but to see and complete the exercises and interactive tasks below them, you will need to buy a course.

About me

So who is that professional teacher mentioned above? That's me. My name is James and I'm from England. You'll see me in all the videos and I'll be one of the people giving you detailed feedback in the final tasks of the lessons. I've been teaching English for 13 years and I've taught a wide range of subjects around the world including exam English and university preparation for students. I've also worked as a teacher trainer and director of studies. As for my qualifications, I have a master's degree in Professional Development for Language Education from the University of Chichester in the UK and I hold the Cambridge Delta and Trinity CertTESOL teaching qualifications:

The three original qualifications mentioned above laid next to each other on a table with the sensitive information covered.

I therefore believe that I am the right person to help you with your IELTS preparation and I look forward to working with you!
